Chapter Captains

CALL TO ACTION - WE NEED MORE G4K CHAPTER CAPTAINS!!

What is a G4K Chapter Captain? Chapter Captains will promote and lead G4K members in a county and/or school district. They will hold G4K Chapter meetings to educate members regarding curriculum issues in their school district, organize action groups, issue calls to action, and provide information to Chapter members regarding upcoming G4K events.

If you're interested in becoming a G4K Chapter Captain, please contact us at info@grandparents4kids.org

Meet the Chapter Captains:

Martha Carver - Douglas County, Colorado G4K Captain

Martha Carver is married and has two grown daughters and one granddaughter. She has worked as a nurse for many years and currently works part-time teaching nursing students at the collegiate level. Martha also volunteers with organizations that assist survivors of sex trafficking.

Martha has been concerned with the decrease in student performance at Colorado schools. She is glad to find an organization like Grandparents 4 Kids which has the goal to improve academic performance in schools. She is looking forward to helping a new generation learn about their country and excel in their academic ventures.

Lisa Mumma- Jefferson County, Colorado G4K Captain

I am so excited to be a part of Grandparents 4 Kids! When I met Linda White, founder of G4K I knew that I wanted to be a part of her vision. I am a native Coloradan and Jeffco Schools Graduate. I am also a retired Jeffco teacher and principal with the experiences to prepare me to work collaboratively with the schools and Grandparents 4 Kids volunteers.  My husband George and I have six grandchildren that we love dearly and only want the best for and we think it 's critical that we give our time, treasures and talent to support them. We expect that our public schools provide academic focused learning, a safe and nurturing environment and transparent curriculum.

Julie Dirks- Holyoke County, Colorado G4K Captain

I am a Colorado native, born and raised in Littleton, CO, I married a farmer, David, 41 years ago and have been in Phillips County CO, since.

I spent 20 years competing and coaching synchronized swimming and also teaching swimming lessons. We owned a flower shop for 15 years and I also served as a Red Cross Disaster member. Once our three boys were married, I retired to become the bookkeeper, transporter, and tractor driver for our 4 generational family farm.

David and I are also Grandparents to 7 fantastic grandchildren! When my sister-in-law introduced Grandparents4Kids to me I knew that it was absolutely something that I needed to do! We want our grandkids to go to school to learn to read, write and do math and have self-expression and creativity along the way. We watch OUR kids being so overwhelmed with putting food on the table and working that they don’t even see the policies and laws that are being passed that affect their children’s learning and well being! That’s why G4K makes so much sense to us! Public schools must provide academic focused learning in a safe, nurturing space. Their future depends upon our involvement!
