Judy has loved being a mom of three sons and mother-in-law to their wives. She delights in being Nana to their ten kiddos. She taught Visually Impaired Students in Aurora Public Schools and in Cherry Creek Schools. She also taught Title I Reading in Aurora Public Schools. After retiring Judy tutored students who were struggling in reading so she understands the importance of systematic reading instruction. Judy is concerned about the current decline in academic proficiency for students.

Judy stands with Grandparents4Kids in focusing our schools on fundamental academic learning and is excited to leave her sons and grandkids a legacy of love of country as well as striving for academic excellence.

Steve and his wife Patricia are not yet grandparents but have three grown children and deep concern for our public schools. After noticing state-wide test scores in Cherry Creek schools showing over half our students not reading or writing at grade level, Steve ran for the school board last year. He was unsuccessful, but learned much from the experience and is even more committed to Grandparents 4 Kid’s goal of engaging parents and grandparents to return public schools to the safe, welcoming, and academically rigorous places of learning our students and our country need to succeed.

As a trial attorney in both private practice and for the US Securities and Exchange Commission, Steve brings a wealth of experience to the board, along with a shared love of country exemplified by his service as a carrier pilot in the US Navy prior to law school.

Kathy has served as a Centennial City Councilwoman for the past 8 years. Recently termed, she remains involved in the community. Kathy, the Mayor of Centennial and another City Councilwoman have founded the Centennial Arts and Cultural Foundation to celebrate, inspire and connect art and culture in Centennial. Prior to running for office, she spent 20 years with Kasier Permanente in Medicare Sales.

Good government, good health and a heart for children began 50 years ago when she had three children in two years, a mom of twins! That prompted her to return to the classroom to get another degree in Early Childhood Education. St Mary's Academy hired her as the Project Coordinator and Manager of the first corporate sponsored Day Care Center in the Denver Technological Center. Later she worked for the late Reverend Gil Horn at the Colorado Council of Churches overseeing the Pre-schools and Day Care Centers.

Kathy is honored to be a part of this inspired movement, Grandparents4Kids. She is a committed Grandparent ready to work with the G4K initiative.

Jim has been husband to Elaine for more than 50 years and enjoys his four married kids and their ten children very much. He worked in the non-profit world for his entire career with a youth focus in the foster care system in Colorado. Much time was spent interacting with teachers and administrators in public schools. Since retiring, he has observed a school system that is shifting from a reliable academic approach to more social-emotional learning, including a move away from parental partnership in learning to a "trust us experts" approach.

Jim joined the G4K team to try to build up a cadre of grandparents to support their extended families by showing them that they can have a rich education and a love for our country which has provided both us and them so much.
